Longpoint’s one of our favorite events to attend every year, and for the last two years, I’ve paid to have the lovely Mandy Michels, professional photographer of the tournament since its inception, to do a group portrait of the club. They turned out just lovely this year…
The NYTimes recently featured a video and editorial on Historical European Martial Arts (Denver). The coverage was great and has really incentivized many new students to take up the sword literally all around the world. Krieg School’s head instructor, Ben Floyd, is at the forefront of this charge to bring HEMA to more people in the US and abroad. Krieg School has recently expanded to Denver and is still going strong in Tampa Bay.
We are happy to announce that Krieg School of Historical Fencing is going national. Instructor Gary Hendrick will be taking over as head instructor of the Krieg School Tampa Bay location (with classes continuing as normal), and Ben and Meg Floyd will be opening a brand new studio in Denver – schedule and location to be announced later this fall. We look forward to seeing you in the mountains!
As Krieges-Schule 2014 rapidly approaches, we hosted a mini-tournament of local clubs to get everyone ready for the big event in May. We had a good turn out and it was great to see all the fights. Thank you to everyone who attended and judged (which was everyone), and special thanks to Kodie R. for point-keeping, Gary H. for reffing, and Aras U. for being ringmaster.
Congrats also to the winners of the longsword tournament!
Greetings, all. We had a great time at Highland Recreation Complex’s Grand Opening this weekend, and got the chance to meet and show our fencing to many members of the public (some of whom will hopefully soon be new students). Thanks to Craig S. and Jenny P. for coming out to help at the booth. We’d also like to thank the staff for having us both Friday and Sunday evening–especially Mandy Petersen.
